After 12 months of planning, Stuart James, Steven Quance, Greg Palethorpe and John Street, supported by Chris Ensoll, attempted to climb Ojos Del Salado, the highest live volcano in the world, in January of this year. They spent 2 weeks in Chile, trying to get up this 7,000 metre mountain, but it was not to be. John had to turn back from Base Camp (5,300 m) due to the flu and tonsillitis, and the others reached 6,100 m before hitting a glacier they couldn’t cross. It was the hardest thing any of them had ever done, but they still raised over £20k. They were aimed for £100k so have planned more fundraisers, and called it the Year of Pain. If you want to get involved, look at the Year of Pain website. Our huge thanks for to the lads, their families for letting them go, and the hundreds of supporters who donated, thank you.
